Challenge 13

Challenge 13 became optional as they threw it at us as a surprise. And we decided to do it anyway. The topic is the diversity of love. It's a 2 page spread and each side had specific things that needed done to qualify. I did the right side. We decided to talk a little bit about how love changes with time. I got the right side and I chose to talk about the love you feel for your children and that really cute old people love. (Maz is picking up other kinds of love in the left side of the page....)

Challenge 12

Challenge 12 was for us to create a layout explaining why we do this...

Challenge 11

Challenge 11...we were only allowed to use one picture, and the only writing we were allowed to do was ask a question...

Maz's:

Katie's:

Challenge 10

This was a Road Block and since I did the other Road Block, it was Maz's turn. In this one, she had to ask me 5 questions and then put the lo together and include one picture and items from 2 designers (no more, no less)...I'm not sure if there were other qualifications... (and let me say, those questions were hard!)

Challenge 9 (Maz)

Challenge 9

Well, here are the rules for challenge 9...

This week’s challenge is: Generations.

Your scrapbook page completed for this challenge must include:

  • Photos of at least two generations of family members (the more generations, the better). KB and Friends specializes in vintage and retro-style digital scrapbooking kits, so we encourage you to dig out those old family photos and scan them, if you have any.
  • Lace.
  • Something metal, preferably, old metal.
  • At least one flower.
  • At least one vintage or retro-style element. It can be ephemera, an old book, an old clock, and so on.
So, I did this heritage page of one of my ancestors, Edward Krewson, and his family.

Challenges seven and eight

My LO for challenge seven, must admit I thought the kit was a bit of a doozie. Didn't like the colours at all, I have a boy, he doesn't go so well with pink, I don't think it suits his complexion that well .... lol!! anyway, so here's mine:

One of my scrapping idols is "she_". My jaw is always on the floor when looking at her gallery, so here's the LO that I chose to lift:

Challenge 8

Well, I'm off to Disney tomorrow, so I wanted to make sure I got this done.
This challenge was to scraplift a lo from a scrapping idol. I visit the blog of Fei Fei's Stuff, and she does the most amazing things. I've never lifted any of her layouts before, but I'm always in awe what she does. Everything is so simplistic. I love her journaling. The brush work. She has the best photo cropping technique, and it is so unique and creative. I decided to scraplift this one:

here is mine...i love how it turned out, and when Lily saw it she says, "Look, I eating apple!"
What a doll!!

Challenge 7

This challenge is being hosted by Sunshine Studios. This one is right up my alley...it's a kit challenge, where they give you a kit to use, and you have to use all of it on your layout (and you can add extra if you want.) Since I'm off on vacation from Thursday-Tuesday, I thought I better not procrastinate this challenge, so here I am getting busy, so that tomorrow I can do laundry and start packing. Well, it looks like Sunshine Studios won't let me use their photo, and I'm too lazy to look into, so just keep in mind everything from this layout came from the kit they gave us except for that beautiful bright pink grid paper and the button stitch (and I used a template of course...) And I absolutely love how this came out.

Challenge 6

This challenge was a Road Block, which meant only one of us participated. So I went ahead and did it. We were supposed to take a lo from our partner, flip it horizontally or vertically, then rotate it 45 degrees and use the new format as a sketch for our new layout. I took this one from Maz:

and made this one...

Challenge Four LO

The rules:

The Art and Soul Challenge!
You both must complete this challenge! However, this is a FAST FORWARD challenge which means that the first team done can SKIP the January 18th challenge if they wish!

1. The Art of it: Your LO must have artistic flair! Literally! Your LO must have at least 3 things "artsy" and/or "altered" on it--(such as but not limited to: paint splatters, a paintbrush, paint spills, crayon doodles, goopy glitter, watercolors, canvas AND/OR altered art items such as wings on photos, art dolls, vintage doodads, ephemera, etc). Really stretch yourself and try something "artsy" that you haven't tried before!
2. The Soul of it: You must journal something from your Soul. Something positive, heartfelt and meaningful to you in your life! Something you've learned, something you've gleaned from your life experience. Perhaps something you would want to pass on to the next generation! (It can even be your favorite quote and why it touches/inspires you) Uplift us, make us smile--inspire us! You must share your journaling with us-if it's hard to read or blended into the background-part of the challenge is to share your journaling in your description.

Katie's Challenge 3 and 4

I've got a lot going on, and I find that if I have challenges sitting around, I end up thinking about them instead of what I'm supposed to be doing...

So, here is my entries for Challenges 3 & 4...

funny thing...

Challenge 3 is supposed to be a rescrap of the first layout in one of the galleries you post to. So I looked and found the one I was going to do. I made a new page, and I went to link it up, and lo and behold it's NOT the first one I posted at DST, but it wasn't a total waste, because I did it also for the scraplift challenge at Snap and Scrap... so all is good there...

this is the one I ended up doing...

If you want to see the original, you'll need to go to my gallery and click on the link in the credits...

Challenge 4...

I'm still not entirely sure I did it right...crossed fingers.

So instead of trying to get the gist across, I'm just copying and pasting the instructions...

My artistic things?? There's a pin hanging from that clip, and then 3 glittered things sort of layered on top of each other at the corner of the picture. Think it'll count?? Otherwise, I don't know what I'll do.

Our Challenge Two LO

At first I thought this was going to be an easy straight forward challenge - HA!!!!!! that was until I read the thread over at NDISB with all the questions!!!! I think I stopped reading after page 4, lol!!! I had no idea people could come up with so many different ideas and interpretations!! So here then, is ours:

The next challenge is already up at GottaPixel .... so here we go, go, GO!!! Open-mouthed

Challenge 2

Here is Challenge number 2...hosted at Elemental Scraps

Cabin Fever
(interpret this as you will, but it must be evident that this is the thought/theme behind your page!)
Must include:
3 photos
4 papers only (no more or less)
8 different elements - at least 1 must be acrylic
2 different fonts
Must have a title, and journaling (which must be visible - if it is not readable, please include in your description)

So we've discussed it. I put together the composition of the layout, and Maz is going to add the pics and fonts and journaling (and double check to make sure I followed the directions to boot.) I can't wait to see the finished page. I'm trying to get it to Maz today...if I can get it uploaded anywhere...

The second challenge is up, Katie and I are brainstorming some ideas ... boy this is FUN!!

Katie's first challenge layout

I'm planning on it being a busy week with school getting back in session, and my son's birthday is this week, so I wanted to get one of these under my belt for the week a while. Here is my challenge layout.

I think I like how it turned out. What do you think?

First challenge up and going...

Well, today the first challenge is up, hosted by Hummie of Hummie's World.
The challenge? Create a layout where the photo is ripped in at least 3 pieces AND journal. I've never created a tear by myself, so I'm off to learn something else. I'm not sure what Maz has in mind though. I'll be sure to post here when I finish it.
